Birds Are Nice (BAN) is a visual artist debuting an exhibition of current and past works here in South Florida. BAN was founded by Diane Arrieta, who is also the artist, and her cause is biodiversity awareness. She uses everything from sculpture, video, illustration, and installation to help raise awareness "by directing participants to explore and learn important scientific concepts regarding biodiversity and conservation," according to her website. Don't let all the science talk fool you; this is still art, and it's known for having an urban and modern feel to it. BAN's exhibition, including a mural titled Seeing Red, is based on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's red list of endangered species. The reception for this will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at 404-422 W. Industrial Ave. in the Boynton Beach Arts District. There will be an auction, food truck, and live entertainment. Best of all, it's free. Call 786-521-1199, or visit activistartista.blogspot.com or birdsarenice.blogspot.com.
