Plein-Air Artists..... Breeze into Boynton Beach
Plein-Air artists have been painting landscapes throughout Boynton Beach at the Boynton Inlet, Mangrove Park, Boynton Harbor Marina, Green Cay Preserve and Arthur Marshall Loxahatchee Preserve Park. As the artists continue to document places and events in Boynton Beach their paintings will be included in a six month exhibit called "Breeze into Boynton Beach.. Plein-Air," December 2012 through May 2013 on the 2nd floor of the City Library, 208 South Seacrest Boulevard. The exhibit ties into Boynton Beach’s new brand promise and statement, "Breeze into Boynton Beach, America's Gateway to the Gulfstream."
Plein-Air, a French expression that means "in the open air", is used to describe the act of painting outdoors. The area Plein-Air Meet up group is for art patrons and artists at all levels who love Plein-Air painting around the local and surrounding South Florida vicinity. The group has over 130 members and usually has anywhere from 5 to 20 artists participating in the scheduled Plein-Air Meet ups. The group was organized by Ralph Papa in 2010 to bring artists together to paint the land, sea and cityscapes in beautiful South Florida. Co-organizers of the Meet up group are Pati Maguire, Steve Nash, Stan Dornfest, Brennan King and Ted Matz. They welcome area and visiting artists of all technical levels to come out to paint today's events and landscapes that contribute to documenting tomorrow's history. Beginning in August through to November 2012 artists from the Plein-Air Meet up group will continue to focus on documenting the following scenes and events in the greater Boynton Beach:
- Thursday, August 23, 7 - 9 pm.
- Arts District, Art Walk, 422 West Industrial Avenue.
- Friday, September 14, 7 - 10 am. Oceanfront Park (City Beach), 6415 N. Ocean Boulevard.
- Sunday, October 7, 3- 11pm.

Some of the spontaneous and impressionistic Plein-Air artworks will be exhibited in the Civic Center located at 128 East Ocean Avenue, from September - December 2012 to pre-promote the "Breeze into Boynton... Plein-Air" activities and upcoming exhibit in the City Library.
The "Breeze into Boynton... Plein-Air" exhibit once installed in the City Library December 2012 will highlight two receptions for the artists and their Plein-Air artwork.
