"Take a Piece of My Heart"
Group Exhibition featuring the work of
Bryce LeVan Cushing
711 Lurcene Ave
Lake Worth, Florida
rcbfineart@gmail.com

Take a Piece of My Heart, curated by Rolando Chang Barrreo, gives the viewer a
deeper perspective on the collective experience of receving, collecting, tranforming, and ultimately repecting that cycle for the artist, art patron, and layman inclusive.

Whether it be relics, sculptures, paintings, photographs, or just ordinary objects there is acatharsis that embodies the participant at each cycle of this process.

Take a Piece of my Heart is the reliquishing, or better yet, bringing to light that which is lost or gained through the process of exchange. The process of the giving and taking a piece of the heart.

The group exhibition will feature the work of Bryce LeVan Cushing. Bryce, who's works have been exhibited throughout Europe and the United States, believes that there is immense beauty in the broken things we come across in this world. as it becomes more difficult for the average person to exist peacefully here, these objects raise a dialogue about the sacredness of life and the spiritual quest of the artist. It is this quest that has brought this talented and accomplished New York artist to Florida.

Art Synergy Announces New Art Districts and Calls to Artists!

Go directly to ART SYERGY ART CALL

West Palm Beach, FL - After an amazingly successful inaugural year, Art Synergy is back bigger and better with ArtWeek 2015.
Formed in early 2013 in response to the needs of local artists in Palm Beach County, Art Synergy is a countywide movement to unify and promote the diverse culture of our vibrant arts community. Developed from discussions during a think tank with local artists, Rolando Chang Barrero, Craig McInnis and Freddy Hennevelt took the lead and formed an organization to promote art events throughout the county that would coincide with Art Palm Beach. The thought was that Palm Beach County arts could benefit from the popular art event much like Miami benefitted from Art Basel.  Soon it was christened ART SYNERGY and took off running with the support of the many local artists in the county.

The first year, five art districts participated in various ways, with each district having events on one particular day during the week long Art Palm Beach event.  The repose was phenomenal and the momentum in developing the volunteer non=profit organization was ongoing throughout the year with additional countywide meetings with artists, the community and the media.
The organization grew and this year has expanded to seven districts. Once again their will be specific days in for each districts and the participating galleries and artists to be spotlighted. The districts are comprised of artists’ studios, galleries and supporting businesses and restaurants that have come together to promote local art. The seven districts are West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, North County, Northwood, Antiques Row (including Worth Avenue), Boynton Beach and Delray Beach (Artist’s Alley).
Art Synergy, a non-profit organization, and all of the participating districts are volunteer based and rely on the artists and volunteers to run and manage all of the events.  They also depend on sponsorship from local businesses and patrons in order to promote and market the events.  Art Synergy is always looking for sponsors and there are many sponsorship opportunities.

Season One debuted in January 2014. It was wildly successful, and is now going into Season Two. Art Synergy 2014 included six art districts throughout Palm Beach County, and gained the full support of David and Lee Ann Lester, cofounders of Art Palm Beach and the American International Fine Art Fair, who provided booth space within the Convention Center at both fairs.

They also gained the support of The City of Boynton Beach Art in Public Places, The Society of the Four Arts, various mayor's offices, local CRA's and West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) . The second year is being planned now, and promises to be even more successful.

Rolando Chang Barrero, B.F.A., M.A.A.T., School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Rolando is the President of the Florida Arts Association. Rolando is a professional artist and curator and maintains a working studio and gallery called ActivistArtistA at the Boynton Beach Art District where his efforts have been recognized by many awards including a Congressional Letter of Commendation 2014, Best Exhibition in Broward and Palm Beach County 2014, and Best Art Walk in Broward and Palm Beach 2013. He is now also teaching cartooning to youth at the Armory.
The two co-Founders of Art Synergy have been working with artists throughout the county to make Art Synergy such a success. They will talk about their own work as artists, about Art Synergy as it heads into Season Two, and what this will mean for artists in Palm Beach County.

There's a $10 fee to attend

If you'd like to bring some snacks or drinks to share, that would be much appreciated, and, please, share this announcement with friends.

ART SALONS offer stimulating conversations with other artists, in a relaxed setting. As a springboard to each of our explorations, professional artists from South Florida are invited to present their work, talk about what influenced them, and examine the work of influential artists showing in museums and galleries. Our discussions cover the gamut of contemporary art themes, including conceptual, cultural, socio/political, environmental, race and gender focused and aesthetic practices, the materials and techniques used to convey these ideas, and where we fit into the world of contemporary conceptual art. They’re also an opportunity to explore the practical side of being an artist, of professional development and the sharing of useful resources.
Salons are facilitated by Elle Schorr.

WeMerge Magazine: David German by Rolando Chang Barrero

WEMERGE Magazine
New Issue Released!
Now Available in Palm Beach County!

David German
By Rolando Chang Barrero

David German danced his way into ART Palm Beach.

David German paints, draws and dances-all at the same time. “ Sometimes I get carried away and just start dancing while I’m painting,” says German. It seems to be a great methodology for this talented artist who recently danced his way into Art Palm Beach 2014.

David German was a relatively an unknown Lake Worth artist only a few weeks ago, now his name and his graphite drawing, “ American Hostage” are both very well know. “America Hostage,” was selected by curator Paul Fisher to hang next to Russell Young’s “Marilyn Crying” and Andy Warhol’s “Rebel Without a Cause.”  When asked about his selection Mr. Fisher replied, “This work had some quirky narrative quality that transcended illustration. I didn't know what was going on but I knew something was…  I felt this is an artist that is going somewhere.”

“American Hostage,” rendered masterfully, on an eight by 10 inch page evokes a haunting truth about the trappings of hip-hop culture, a reality of the urban experience.  A truth, which appears personal and intimate to the artist, yet remains open for the viewer to interpret. The ‘blind eyes’ of the hostage takers are in remarkable contrast to David’s own eyes; which look down at the viewer.

David’s work seamlessly blends talent, mastery, emotion, and social commentary.  He is one of South Florida’s artist to keep an eye on.
