Kim Fay
Artist Statement:
I wanted to create my own language; this is how it began and felt myself a mirror; using painting, drawing, murals, mixed media. Although the visual vocabulary has changed it still is how I converse best of those dark and light places; reflect back into nature.
I can remember from the smallest age being greatly effected by light; through the trees, down a hallway, in a someone’s eyes, a star above.
It’s just about seeing.
I work primarily in oils, on several pieces consecutively; as if conducting an orchestra of various sounds and beats.

Favorite lunch spot?
There are so many! All the Taste History restaurant partners have distinctive lunches which is why they are on this food tour. One of my favorites is South Shores Tavern in downtown Lake Worth because they have a great new chef, Curtis Hillard, who has modernized their menu with a nice kick and twist. I’m also a huge fan of Scuola Vecchia Pizza e Vino on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. And I’ve fallen in love with The Little House restaurant in downtown Boynton Beach.

Favorite place for a quiet dinner?
“Quiet” makes this question challenging because my favorites may not necessarily be “quiet.” Brogues Down Under in downtown Lake Worth is one of my favorite choices. And Sefa Mediterranean Grill in Delray Beach is really lovely. And the Cabana El Rey restaurant in Delray Beach is one of my newest favorite places.

I have many favorites but will mention the Lake Worth Playhouse in downtown Lake Worth and the Boynton Beach Neighborhood Arts District.

Favorite restaurant to take out of town guests?
Papa’s Tapas in the Pineapple Grove Arts District in Delray Beach. In Boynton Beach, I like taking guests to the Hurricane Alley restaurant which is in the historic Harvey Oyer Jr. building on Ocean Avenue in Boynton Beach. And, there is also the Bun Bun Authentic Jamaican American Cafe in Boynton Beach.

Favorite tourist-y place to take out of towners?
It may not be tourist-y but tourists and out of town guests like it when I take them to the farm-to-table eatery Secret Garden Cafe in Boynton Beach and the old-fashioned George’s Meat Market in Lantana.
